Dear SmithBucklin,

I would like to apply for the job you advertised on Career Builder as 'Online Manager'. There have been three major aspects of my career: consulting, technical sales support and internet developer. I can't imagine choosing a training program more directly applicable to this job. I am confident these experiences will allow me to be tremendously helpful to both SmithBucklin and its clients.

As a consultant, I have become adept at understanding and documenting customer needs and goals. Whether working on behalf of R.R. Donnelley and Sons with one of their large printing customers, or later on my own with a tiny company that needed guidance in their information technology planning, I understood the importance of never taking the first answer and working sensitively to come to an understanding that creates a happy customer who had enjoyed real value from our relationship.

As a technical sales support rep, I honed my skills as an analyst, designer and client manager. Working with a sales rep to uncover work required sensitivity to the particular style and goals of the sales rep as well as those of the customer. In that role, I was responsible for understanding the customer's needs, documenting them and getting agreement on them, configuring solutions, helping close the deal, and, most importantly, making sure that the implementation staff and client worked together for a successful result.

As an internet developer, I have designed and developed websites to meet a variety of needs ranging from production control to e-commerce to community-building and beyond. I have written membership software, developed affiliate sales networks, and written website copy. As a freelance, I was obligated to do everything necessary to insure the success of my client and to manage the project in a way that insured my success as well.

These are, as best I can tell from your ad, the precise functions required of Online Manager. I am good with clients because I like them. I have good written and verbal communications skills, the result of years of making presentations to clients large and small. I know how to organized a project. My knowledge of internet usage and imagination for new concepts are both excellent. I have no doubt that I will be able to do a great job for SmithBricklin and its customers.

I look forward with real enthusiasm for a chance to discuss this further.

Best Regards,

TQ White II
