Dear Orbitz,

I found your ad on Monster.com for a Product Manager. I am a broadly experienced technical manager who has built a career on being a generalist able to work cross-discipline and competently execute any task. I have spent a substantial part of my career working in sales/marketing roles and am known as a thorough analyst and good project manager. I am especially proud of my communication skills. I believe that these characteristics match the needs of this job and would allow me to make a superb, long-term contribution to Orbitz.

My foundation experience in internet marketing was as the developer/internet guru for a 2Grrrls, Inc., a company that sold housewares and gift items to women and teenage girls. I pioneered their web presence, developed interactive 'branding' attractions, and created an affiliate network. Over several years, I led their web presence from static html, to a dynamic, content-managed branding engine. I have a good feel for user experience and a sense of strategy for how things fit together and support future expansion and sales.

My best product development experience was for Sonoran Scanners, a startup company that wanted to create a device for the printing industry. I was hired to assess the market need, understand the economics of the devices usage, specify the product for the development team, and lead the marketing charge to the customers. It would have been a better story if they had had enough money to finish development, but I did, in fact, accomplish those goals including the development of a marketing partnership with the printing supply division of Kodak.

I am a skilled business planner with strong Excel and database skills and the ability to make effective presentations to audiences ranging from local computer clubs, to Fortune 500 boardrooms, to trade show audiences of hundreds. I have a strong creative, entrepreneurial spirit and ability to complete complex projects on my own initiative.

I think Orbitz is an extremely interesting company. When you started, I was delighted to learn that you are a Chicago company. I am very confident that my experiences and skills qualify me to do a great job in this role.

I look forward to the chance to discuss this further.

Best Regards,

TQ White II
